Sneaky direct push mail

I just wanted to see if anyone elde is having this problem. Direct Push has this habit of turning itself on, but turns itself off when you go into the comm manager. Its happened on all of the custom roms I've tried. It wouldn't be that big of a deal, but we all know about these magnificent batteries. Any ideas?
