death while charging, no excuse, none!

I don't like to rant but...

This has happened to me several times. I'm on my phone, the battery is down to say 30%. So I plug it in and continue to stay on it and what happens. It goes dead.

Now I get it, I'm able to accept that the batter life for intensive users is not the greatest, but COME ON, the phone is plugged. You should be able to do whatever you need to at any time ever when it is plugged into the wall and have 120V at your fingertips.

I do not understand this design flaw. I mean I do understand, they have it running off the battery and if you use more energy than it can charge and so it does die, but what year is it, 1980? Do any other smart phones have this problem (this is my first one), do you guys with other TP's have this problem.

Yes, I have on order two batteries and several chargers, but running out of power while being plugged in is inexcusable. How much power could it possible need, I can mow my lawn and heat my small water heater with 120V plugged in.

I'm not happy with this design flaw at all.

Yeah this is crap and shame on HTC. I had the same issue when i was on stock alltel. Since I went to custom roms and flashed the telus radio my battery life at least doubled or tripled if not more, no more battery drain while charging and my phone doesnt get boiling hot anymore.

I feel your pain...but I must say you are a little late in jumping on this battery train. Most of us who use the phone a lot for phone calls have the SAME issue...we've been going on about it for ages now. I have switched to the new sprint radio and the overheating issue is still there but battery life has improved just a tad bit if any. Yes this is a serious design flaw and HTC should have addressed it ages ago...

Re: death while charging, no excuse, none!

there's a reason why I'm late, and it's because I am new and Alltel is somewhat new.

I'm under 30 days on my phone and in all my searching, it's all Sprint stuff and I'm hesitant to do stuff because I'm on Alltel.

Here's the begging question: who on Alltel has messed with their radio to get better battery life? That's why I have an Alltel thread (which isn't really responded to at all probably because most of you guys are Sprinters)

Thanks

Re: death while charging, no excuse, none!

There is a lot of discussion in the radio rom thread about Alltel and other carrier's radios.

Also, check out Conflipper's Alltel Rom thread here, for good information on his custom rom (with battery tweaks) and other related radio information:
