How to update gwes.exe?

First of all, to the mods, if this has been discussed somewhere before, please feel free to move it. I heard of someone successfully doing this, but I don't remember them posting how they did it.

Anyway, this thread is for everyone who wishes to experience XBoxmod's TF3D in all of its glory (notifications, start menu, etc) without having to flash to a new rom of a higher build. In other words, I want this thread to serve as a tutorial for replacing the gwes.exe with another gwes of a higher build.

Personally, I tried to replace my gwes.exe, but my file explorer told me that I didn't not have permission to replace the file. I was using total commander. If someone here knows how to successfully update the gwes.exe, then please post it here.

Once I find out how to update, I'll try it myself, and if it works, I'll update this post with the step-by-step process on how to do it.

Also, some have reported that the gwes update will not work on the stock Sprint rom. I'm not sure why, but fayfay392 cooked a stock Sprint rom that contains the higher build here:

You need a better file manager software to overwrite the file such as Total Commander.

I tried to use total commander, but it told me the same thing. It said that the file couldn't be overwritten because it was write-protected.

How would I switch off the write-protection?

unzip it to the windows folder and that should be it, cause thats what i did and it worked fine

Ok, I was able to replace the drivers using resco explorer (this work comp wouldn't recognize my phone, so I had to use resco). But when I turned on the device, it wouldn't boot anymore and I had to hard reset. It's no issue tho, I can get everything back in 10 minutes with SPB backup.

Juggalo's rom is 19xxx, and I remember someone saying that the gwes hack doesn't work with those builds. Is there a way I can update the driver on Juggalo's rom, or do I have to flash to a new one?

Another possibility; maybe we're using two different gwes.exe's. I got mine from the link in the first post. Is that where you got yours, or did you get it from somewhere else?
