Youtube App Help Needed

I have a VZW Touch Pro and I'm trying to use HTC Youtube App.

I've just been searching around the forums and tried about 4 or 5 difference versions that are around.

I can't get any of them to play the video in full screen.

I'm almost sure the Youtube App I had used to work in full screen prior to me mucking around with some things in that huge tcpmp thread.

Right now, I've got the Youtube_VGA.cab installed and that seems to work best as far as the screen formatting while selecting videos.

Here's what happens. I start a video, a video player opens and the video appears with blank spaces to the top, bottom, right and left.

First, are the videos supposed to play in full screen? If so, what else could be wrong? Could the Youtube app be pulling up the wrong player? I thought I had to have that HTC Streaming Media player installed, but the Youtube app still pulls up the same player where or not I have the Streaming Media cab installed.

Any other ideas? I'd really like to get this working again.

By the way, that brand new Youtube player directly from google does play videos in full screen (using a different player), but I like the HTC Youtube app better.

Any help is appreciated.

Guy do you know where you YouTube directory is located on your mobile device...? See you cannot just install YouTube apps over other YouTube app a lot files are left behind and the directory become corrupt, then we will get all kinds of errors.. Now we want to play the blame game, without knowing that we cause the problem ourselves... Dude please clean your YouTube directory before making a new install and do this with all media players....:drunken:

Ok, well first of all, to clear things up, it does not look like it was your tcpmp stuff that's screwed things up.

I found a post over at XDA that said that the HTC YouTube App uses Windows Media Player and suggested I see what the video setting was there. It was set to NEVER use full screen.

I'm hopeful that's the fix.

BUT, now after installing and uninstalling various YouTube apps, I'm not getting the "Error Cannot play this video" message.

I've done a lot of searching and found a lot of people with this issue, but haven't found any definitive fix.

Any ideas?

Anyone have any ideas here? There are so many ppl with this problem, there has to be a fix.

I know it was previously working fine on my device.

Have you tried the first one listed here? It works perfect for me.

I had not tried that player before, but I just tried it and get the same message, Error Cannot play this video.

I'm on one of Scott R's first ROMs. I don't think that's an issue though.

It worked just fine before I started trying to fix the problem of it not playing in full screen by uninstalling/installing all of the different HTC Youtube applications that I could find. Uninstalling one of those may have wiped out something I needed for this to work.

Any other ideas?

EDIT: I also just noticed that WMP isn't playing either xvids or h.264 files at all anymore. I guess it's something with WMP itself that's the problem. I'm getting this error in WMP "source filter for this file could not be loaded"
