Dilemna: Avoiding screen presses in holster!!
OK, here's what's happening and I have to believe others are also having these issues and would like to know the most reasonable way to solve it hence the new post.
Using pocketshield 2.6 works well to lock the phone but I have my TP set to check for new email on 2 different accounts every 15 minutes. The phone wakes up and then is susceptible to screen pressure in the pouch and inadvertently starts programs and causes other havoc in the pouch. Needless to say this also effects the already minimal battery life. Do I have to switch email "to check manually" to avoid wakeup in the pouch? Obviously incoming phone calls wakes it up and I know and answer accordingly. Incoming sms also wakes it up and provides audible notification which isn't really an issue. I am using windows live to synch with my msn account as well as a pop3 account separately. I've only had my TP for a couple months. Others have dealt with this no doubt. Thanks in advance John |

If you have PS how is the screen unlocking itself? Also I don't think my phone wakes itself when it checks for messages. Regardless PS should lock your screen no matter how it comes on.

Try turning off the unlock with light sensor option. The screen should not be unlocking by itself

Yup, the point of PS is to not have the screen make accidental presses. Unfortunately, the phone does wake up to check email. Like said above, turn off the light sensor so that the phone does not automatically unlock when you don't want it to.

Its this exact reason I use S2U2. No accidental screen presses, no accidental call answers when locked. I love it.

PocketShield does the same locking as s2u2 if set up correctly. When I get an SMS, SMS-Chat gives me a notification but the screen is still locked with PocketShield & will not respond whatever until it is unlocked first. My system does not unlock on incoming email either & it checks every 30 minutes. ~John |

Re: Dilemna: Avoiding screen presses in holster!!
I have tried disabling the light sensor unlock function and that seems to have solved my immediate issue. I do work outside so I suppose light can find it's way under the pouch and trigger the unlock function inadvertently. Overall PocketShield seems be working fairly well. I did have to soft reset today when the phone got confused and the HTC task manager disappeared and it didn't want to let me unlock or modify the pocketshield settings. I cannot say it is PS causing the issue yet so I don't want to cast blame any where without verification. The TP is such a complicated device the problem can be caused by any number of things.
Thanks for all your help as always John |
