Last I checked, this LED looking object is actually a light sensor that when enabled will automatically adjust your screens brightness.
But that's just what I've heard, feel free to correct me if I am mistaken as I am new to the Touch Pro.

i think you're talking about the light sensor. looking at the "ear-hole" on the phone, it's to the left? i don't know what ALL it does. i think one of it's functinoes is to turn the screen off when you have the phone to your face so you don't push buttons with chubby cheeks. also if you have the auto dim function on in your settings, it will change the brightness of your screen depending on "background light"

you are correct my friend, i think it threw most of us for a twirl when we first got the TP's and saw that the "LED" wasnt working lol.

yes it is a light sensor it allows the phone to do some pretty useful things...like automatically dimming your phone when its dark in the room...it saves battery power. its also used in other programs but none of them i use or know what for...
