Dumb question, why do files disappear when you unzip roms?

I know this is a dumb question, but how come when you unzip a rom file that has maybe 10 things in it, it always moves into the new folder with only 4 files showing?

Because some of the files you've just unzipped are probably system/hidden files. So once they've been copied to your device, Windows hides those files.
