My Tethering Speeds Make No Sense.(Help)

Ok my normal sbc internet speeds are 622 download and 265 upload i max out at in real speeds at 80.3k/b

Ok Now with my sprint touch pro phone tethering i heard of people downloading at real speeds of over 1mb my speed are 1281 download and 124 upload which is way higher then my sbc internet and yet i still cant download over 80k/b

With my phone the download speeds double from my sbc internet but for some reason i cant download more than 80k/b and thats unacceptable something is not right can someone help me fix this problem even if i was getting real download speeds of 150k/b id be happy

Looks like you were downloading from megaupload which limits the the download rate you get if you are on a free account.

Megaupload does limit speed, not sure on the cap though. My suggestion would be to go to Microsoft.com or Adobe.com and download Photoshop/Office trial. Let it warm up for a few minutes and then see what it says.

Very interested in your reply, as I'm on Sprint as well.

agreed. I come in around the same speeds on my tethering. Some sites ill get 30kbs, 70kbs. other sites ill jump up to 300kbs. its not just your phone in the equation here. It's the sites servers and their internet lines that also are a part of it

ah i use free megaupload and i dl at 300kbs. I am on a landline dsl at 3mbs connection, so i think your dl speed is reasonable.

My guess is where ever you might be downloading those files from either is swamped with traffic and that is the best your going to get from that download site during that time frame. What happens if you try that at like 3 in the morning?

what app are you using to tether?, it also might have to do with the area your in, make sure your getting EVDO coverage, no 1X(the server your downloading from is important. if your a free member at MEGAuploads, than your gonna be restricted.

His post is about download speeds and tethering... He provided screenshots to prove his point. What he is downloading is not the point of the OP's thread. He's not promoting and / or asking for warez is he?
