Re: Verizon Touch Pro Take Apart
I know it's not a Verizon, but much of the information will be the same.

[Resolved] Verizon Touch Pro Take Apart
Edit: After getting slapped a few times, I finally saw the light. The method *is* the same as the other Touch Pros. All you need to do is dig into the outer-most border between the matte and shiny plastic surrounding the keyboard, once the four torx screws are out. I used my fingernail (I got reeeeal nice fingernails :-/ ), but a thin plastic piece is probably a better option. Keep at it, and the whole rear casing will eventually come loose.
After two layers of electric tape, there's no issues with my keyboard [yet]. However, the electric tape made the space bar protrude about 0.5 mm above the casing ====== I see many Google links about guides for dissecting the Verizon Touch Pro (XV6850), but they all lead to the Alltel one or an overseas one -- both of which have cases similar to the Sprint variant. Having said that, I'd like to resurrect this thread in hopes of finding any PPCGeeks users who have photos of dismantling the Verizon version of this phone. In the Verizon TP version, removal of the four screws is easy, but the fun stops after there. - It looks like the whole rear piece is a single component! It holds together very well, even without the screws. - There are some small tabs hidden in a few crevices, but they won't budge when I press on them. - Furthermore, I can see a fifth screw hidden under a wall of the battery compartment... Can't reach it. - I am able to remove an upper cover, but that only leads to the flash and lens. I do not see any more screws in that region. I read the guide in the sticky section (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=62876) but the keyboard does not lift up when I press the battery compartment. In the Verizon version, the whole case just bends and appears as though it's going to break... There must be another way. ...Any ideas on this one? I would really like to open this thing up and fix that keyboard cable, once and for all. Anyone who's taken apart the Verizon version of the Touch Pro -- I'm all ears! Thanks in advance!
