Thumbs up Change carrier id to whatever you want - w/o disabling picture mail!

I'm unsure if anyone has posted this before (I haven't seen it), so I figured I would toss this up here. To replace the "Sprint" logo with your custom text - without using Personalizer - you'll need m9editor. With the editor open, open the 1c684cd8_manila file. With this file open, type "CarrierNetwork" in the find field, and hit Enter or Next - whichever you prefer. You should see this line:
<Property> Name=Instance Name Value="CarrierNetwork"

Delete the "CarrierNetwork" value and hit "Ok" to save the change. 2 lines down from this entry, you will see:

<Property> Name=String Value=""

Turn that into:

<Property> Name=String Value="(whatever you want here)"

Hit "Ok" to change your text.

Hope this helps. I am on Sprint - and haven't tried this on another carrier. If someone could confirm this, it would be much appreciated. Please hit the "Thanks" if this helped!

Yes, but as I mentioned, without using Personalizer. Personalizer, for whatever reason, disables Sprint picture mail. Hence the "w/o disabling picture mail" in the subject...

Re: Change carrier id to whatever you want - w/o disabling picture mail!

Yeah I hated that Personalizer jacked up the picture mail. Cause I loved changing my name with my mood...but ohwell.

So I did this change....I did it. And it shows my name in the upper right corner. Which I Love.

But it put the Sprint Logo back, and jacked up the clock of my theme. Installed the sprint flip clock cab, and the remove sprint logo cab & it erased the name at the top.

So seems like it only works if you have the Sprint Logo there and don't want a clock.

QPST is Qualcomm Product Support Tool, you can get it here. I didn't bother with another app, just used the manila. Hope this helps.
