ROM flash ruined my sandisk card.......

Last night, I reflashed one of my TP's trying to fix an MMS problem.

I flashed it to one of scrosler's ROM's & then went to restore a Sprite backup from my 16 gig Sandisk card. The file explorer showed the card as totally blank.

I'm like WTF?? There was over 9 gigs of stuff on that card including probably six BU files, a ton of ripped movies, mp3's etc etc etc

No real big deal as I had 99% of it backed up to my laptop, but I've never seen this happen before. I took out the card & stuck it in a card reader on my LT & it won't even let me format the damn thing.........

Sucks.
I've had very good lock formatting un-formatable cards with this

Re: ROM flash ruined my sandisk card.......

Thanks, I'll give that a shot.

I would at least like to save the card although I'm not sure I trust it at this point.

Thats weird...I always flash with my Card in and have yet to have problems. I wonder if its related to the encryption?

Same here. I must have done 100 flashes between my old Titan's & my newer TP's & it never affected the card at all.

It may have had nothing to do with the flash, but it's an awful coincidence that it worked fine before the flash & was totally dead after it........

Re: ROM flash ruined my sandisk card.......

ive read someones rom thread that suggested you remove the card before you flash. Never removed mine but it was always in the back of my mind, you just moved it to the front

Re: ROM flash ruined my sandisk card.......

Where did I say it was the ROM's fault??

I realize cards go bad all the time & I didn't lose anything other than the cost of the card which is no big deal.

As far as removing it before flashing, I have never done that in the past but I will surely keep it in mind from now on..........

if its a 16gig card that means it fairly new, did it come with a warranty? if so contact the maker and ask about a replacement. at least your not out the money for it if they will replace it.
