Input is driving me crazy

Hello-

I'm hoping someone can help me with disabling the insanely annoying I-know-what-you're-going-to-type-before-you-finish feature while using the HARD keyboard. If I'm typing, I just want to type, not have it slooooowly and incorrectly guess at every single keystroke. It won't even let me type my last name without forcing it to something else!

I've got everything disabled in the control panel, but it still does it.

I just want things like they were on my 6700 and 6800, where it'd only correct common misspellings and punctuation.

Thanks for any help as this is really driving me up the wall.

I'm running eRice's latest.

-TM

Re: Input is driving me crazy

change the default onscreen SIP to the standard keyboard SIP and you may need to disable T9 as well... the physical keyboard SIP still follows the osncreen SIP so if you are using the HTC keyboard then you're in T9 world...toggle T9 off in any event

Re: Input is driving me crazy

I'm so glad this post was made, this has been driving me crazy since I just flashed my phone! Apparantly, it is the T9 setting. I just tried to type a message, and noticed T9 was enabled on the Full qwerty keyboard, and it was to type what I was typing. Then I disabled it (on the SIP keyboard by pressing the ABC/T9 button), and now it stops guessing what I'm typing. The only problem is whenever I switch text input areas, it automatically goes to T9 again!

So, the solution: Start > Settings > Input > Input Method Options (the button on the top of the page, not the Options tab) > Uncheck the textbox.

Yay!
