How to disable IEEE 802.1x?

Guys,
I have searched and searched but just could not find help.

I have a Verizon HTC Touch Pro with WM6.1. A few weeks ago I had set up my Wi-fi to work on two diffrent secure wireless netwroks with
WPA-PSK AES security. Something happend a few days ago and I can nolonger connect to them. I had to unsecure my network to get the phone to connect.

I did noticed that IEEE 802.1x Access Control was now selected by default and there was no way for me to unselect it. How can I fix my phone to be able to unselect the IEEE 802.1X?
