Touch Pro Connection Icon?

Noob here. I have a question about the connection icon on my CDMA Touch Pro. The roaming, the 1X, and the EV, I understand. When I visit my in-laws, I have a "E" that has a gray background. The book does not mention anything about that symbol. What does the "E" mean? I am running the Mighty Rom if that makes a difference.
