Re: TP screen defect? "oily" appearance

I just got my phone from Verizon and the bottom of the screen was actually pulling away from the phone. Put it right back In the box and sent it right back. I am mad I have to wait another 4 days.

Will they replace it even with the red sticker that they claim about water damage?

Unhappy Re: TP screen defect? "oily" appearance

My first TP had that oil problem also. Make sure to get a new one because the refurbs have some screen issues. Oh btw, you can ask to keep your old battery as a spare. I did and I keep it with me because they die so quick.

Yeah, I'd like to know this too considering my red sticker somehow activated. (I don't put my phone anywhere near any liquids, I read that sometimes too much humidity can activate it).

Re: TP screen defect? "oily" appearance

my screen on my last two touch pros have both done this. i would be interested to find out what they replace your phone with. a woman at my local sprint store said they were trying to "phaze out" the touch pro. wonder if they would replace mine with the pro 2?

Re: TP screen defect? "oily" appearance

If your TP has an oily appearance or residue build up on it, due to use without a screen protector.... try this, it has worked on all my touch devices.

1. Grab a couple Q-tips, some Isopropyl Alcohol 91% (the higher the volume the better, it means less water and water is not good for the screen), and a soft 100% cotton cloth or pick up a cheap pack of eyeglass cleaning cloths from a dollar store or walmart.

2. Lightly dampen the Q-tip with some of the alcohol and rub across the screen removing the residue.

3. Polish the screen with the cloth.

You might have to do this a few times to remove all the residue, but after the 2nd or 3rd time you should be set.

I do this every few days, I also have a screen protector on and this removes all the oil (from fingers) from the screen from daily use.

Re: TP screen defect? "oily" appearance

The TP is not the only phone this happens to, I had 2 Vogues and it happened to both of them after a time. From what I understand it is from the phone heating up and the digitizer warping. xmln3x may be right, but I think the issue some of you are talking about deals with an "oil stain" look in between the two layers of the digitizer, and for that there is no way to fix it. Most carriers will replace your phone, I have Verizon and they will for sure replace it.

Jamey - To answer your question, I believe Verizon is replacing the TP with a TP2.

Re: TP screen defect? "oily" appearance

Hm, I call the Sprint Customer service number and I nearest authorized sprint repair store. Got the same answer from both: "We have determined that it is just a characteristic of the phone and it has absolutley no effect on the phones operation therefore no repair is required or allowed." Anyone else heard this, i am still within my first year.
