battery overcharge?

will the battery life diminish if the unit is overcharged?

Re: battery overcharge?

Overcharging it isn't possible. Lithium Ion and Lithium Polymer batteries used in electronic devices have boards in them which don't allow further charging once they are fully charged. If overcharged even a little bit, they WILL puff up, leak, and soon afterward explode, as many model airplane enthusiasts will attest to. You don't see many laptops and phones exploding, and the board is the reason for that - the board will prevent it from ever happening.

In other words, you're safe. It won't matter how you treat the battery, within reason - the days of Nickel Cadmium finickiness are over.
