On my HTC Touch Pro with ROMeOS WM 6.5 build 2.9.03 it works.
I did it this way:

Change device ID, from Start -> Settings -> System -> About -> Device ID to TouchPro
3. Install a registry editor, then edit

HKLM\System\Versions\AKU key, change whatever in there (like .0.0.3) to .1.6.0

4. Install BBConnect 4.0.0.106.
5. Setup with Blacberry Desktop software.

Blackberry Desktop don't work on my vista notebook so I did the setup with my tp.
After a softreset I get quite often a "Security Service died unexpectedly" but if not, it works pretty well.
Still searching for a solution of the security service thing.

Never used bbm.

would be great if it did use bbm and if someone cooked this into some roms
