In Abilene: Sprint 1x, Alltel EVDO

I live in an area where Sprint has 1x signal and Alltel has EVDO. Sometimes when my phone goes into roam, it picks up the Alltel EVDO and I am able to browse the internet using the EVDO speeds, I called Sprint and I'm not charged extra for using data while in roam.
Does anyone know of a way I can force my data to stay in roam so I can have EVDO speeds? I've been inquiring about when EVDO will be available in my area and I've been told for over two years "soon".
Looking forward to a hack to get me some EVDO love.

"force roam" "roam only" ... anything along those lines would have found you what you need.

This post has the information you need to change to add a Roaming Only option in your phone settings menu. There's a .cab which will do the same thing around, but you are more than welcome to do the searching for it.

But yeah, roam only is the way to go. Sprint will give you a nice call and then drop you if you spend more then some % (20? 10? 50? Bueller? Anyone?) of your time roaming, so be aware of that.
