Internet Sharing

Did a search and was not finding what I need

Is there something I need to do to make the internet sharing work?
When I connect after having the USB cable connected, I get an error message that states "your vision ID/password in incorrect"...

If this has already been discussed, can somebody point me to the thread thanks.

Re: Internet Sharing

What app are you using to make it work? Are you using the ICS file? Are you using any of the wifirouter versions? Have you ever connected with the phone before?

Windows Mobile Device Center (or whatever they call Active Sync under Vista now)...not using wifirouter.

It's hard for me to DL the files since currently my internet connection is down at the house and the wonderful firewall here at work won't let me e-mail files at all.....
I was able to find some stuff after posting this, like the tethering hack file, what does that do, does it only change reg settings, if so which ones (so I can just do it manually)

Re: Internet Sharing

I was really hoping that this was how-to on setting it up. I previously read a similar thread for a different company - which did not seem to work for me.

Can someone help or point me in the right direction?

Thanks,

B

Re: Internet Sharing

here ya go, it is posted in the touchpro essentials thread right at the top of this page.....lots more good stuff as well. just download and put the zip file right on the memory card. then through the file explorer on your phone, find the file and click on it. it will install on its own.

works for sprint for sure (thats what im running)

b4 u can use internet sharing u have to open up a webpage on your internet explorer (all on the phone). then once it is loaded you go to internet sharing and click connect. it should say to check cable, this is when you plug it into usb.....and bingo, all money!!!!!

Re: Internet Sharing

1:Install the internet tethering hack http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/attachment...9&d=1221879604 (thanks Swartz! Makes it easy for us noobs)

2:Make sure you have window mobile device center installed(Vista) or activsync(XP) So your computer has the proper drivers http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

3:Connect the usb cable to your phone. Then connect to your pc.

4:Wait for your pc to recognize and install the drivers for your phone(automatic if you followed step 2) You should see a notifacation in bottom right corner of your pc.

5: Select internet sharing from the popup when you plug the cable in. Or goto StartMenu/programs/internet sharing. When it starts hit connect in the bottom left corner if it hasn't already.

Start up your favorite browser and enjoy

Re: Internet Sharing

jury is out on that one.

i have read that even with an unlimited data plan, there is actually a 5gig limit on data. but i dont think that with normal use, anyone would actually get an additional charge. my advise is to use internet tethering for simple web browsing, email stuff, but dont go torrenting and downloading a bunch of movies or anything. as long as u stay under the 5 gig limit, u should be just fine.

i have been doing it for 3 months and no problems here. saves me from having to pay another bill for seperate.

poor college kid here!!!!!
