Activating a Sprint HTC Touch Pro on Alltel's network

I was wondering if it's possible to activate a Sprint HTC Touch Pro on Alltel's network. My girlfriend wants one but I want to be sure that it was possible first. Also, I saw some of the phones on eBay with a bad ESN, since these are cheaper would they work on Alltel's network? I'm a college student so even a little saving helps. Thanks for the help.

I think Alltel is owned by Verizon now, I'm not sure if Sprint and Verizon share bad ESN information, but that would be interesting to know. I would think they probably have some sort of repository, but then again, not many people swap Sprint/Verizon phones across networks.
