ICS Disconnecting Issue

I just recently got myself a new Touch Pro via the advanced exchange program. Goodbye Mogul. Anyway, my build date is January 17, 09.

I've got ICS working but sometimes it disconnects. I'm currently running Windows 7, Dual booting with Vista Ultimate. The issue happens on both OS's.

Most of the time, When it disconnects, I look at the phone, and the phone still says it's connected, but the connection is lost on my computer.

Other times the phone will show disconnected and ask if I'd like to pair with the computer via activesync or as a disc drive. Simply hitting the reconnect button fixes the issue, but gets annoying when/if it's happening repeatedly at short intervals.

I tether as my sole internet connection, and have been for months using WMWifiRouter .91. Which I can't get to work on the TP. But that's another story. When the USB tethering is working, it's awesome. I download torrents with it on a regular basis.

So is there any insight to a fix for this?

Re: ICS Disconnecting Issue

I've got the same issue...

Only thing is that I get it on the PHONE too. I'll be browsing with Opera and the whole connection will lock up. Shows connected but nothing that uses data can get through. I have to manually disconnect and reconnect the connection.

It did this with both the Sprint and Telus radios but seems to be a bit worse since I switched to the Telus radio.

Re: ICS Disconnecting Issue

I used to have almost the same exact issue with my Mogul (except that the data indicator on the phone would switch to '1X' instead of 'Ev' about 50% of the time when it happened) but on my TP, although it still happens, it happens much less frequently. I can go 2-3 days now with my TP downloading via BT tethered to my PC and have the connection hold up pretty well. My Mogul would last 24 hours max, and would sometimes disconnect 3 times in the space of 15 minutes.

I'm using the Telus radio, if it matters.

I run into the same issue, using XP and the tether fix on TP. Some days its fine, other days after a few minutes the connection is gone.

Re: ICS Disconnecting Issue

I tether very frequently and also have this disconnect problem. I had a mogul before and had no issues with tethering and it was fast and stable. I mainly bluetooth tether using a mac. The Touch Pro seems to drop the connection when streaming higher amounts of data using bluetooth tethering. The connection drops, but not sure if its the bluetooth, or the phone.

Using USB tether the phone does a lot better, but still drops the connection with an incoming text or switching from EV to 1X. My old mogul handled everything like a champ, not dropping for a text, or even a call. It would just pause the connection and as soon as I hung up it was right back tethering. I was using a custom ROM on the Mogul. I am currently using merdin's 3.4 ROM (which i enjoy the most) however the problem seems to be the same with any ROM i've used on the Touch Pro.

I have always used internet sharing to tether on both phones and downloaded a patch for internet sharing which didn't fix the problem.
