Re: Transfer without Computer
I was just looking for the same thing...to be able to just plug any usb flash drive into the PPC (ie. touch pro). Someone modded his touch pro to use a regular sd card reader so he put in an easier to find 16 or 32 gig SD card. I was also looking for a micro sd to female usb cable/converter. That would still require you to pop open the back cover on the pro to plug it in at least and I'm not sure about the interface and power requirements being possible.

Re: Transfer without Computer
You would probably have to find a mini-USB to female normal-USB converter, and attach your external flash drive that way...
Something like this here. Last edited by MojoRisen; 03-20-2009 at 07:44 AM. Reason: Added link |

Re: Transfer without Computer
Yea thanks, that would solve the easy way to connect the flash drive physically but the big question is can it be used like that...flash drive would need to draw power from the phone I would assume. My thought was to use the micro sd slot connector to female usb port. I don't think it's made. Again not sure what power/data issues there are not to mention any software or drivers. We should have big micro sd cards soon anyway.

Re: Transfer without Computer
The 800w has host support. (stay with me) "bsnguy" mentioned it on TreoCentral....following his advice I bought a USB host cable with a microUSB tip for $8 on Ebay and read USB thumb drives from the 800w. I even used a USB headset. Amazing. I asked the OP in that thread if the Touch Pro had this functionality and he says no. Bummer - it's pretty amazing to read thumb drives off your phone. It shows up in Resco as "Hard Drive", with the same icon as the storage card.

Re: Transfer without Computer
Thanks haus, that would have been the adapter I would be looking for...it can get hard to search for things like that when you don't even know what to call them lol. I bet we can load host support onto the pro somehow. I had seen an old program that may work but it was made for the early days WinMo and now I need to find it again anyway.

although when i dont feel like messin with the cards...i just email the files to myself and "save as" and throw it on my card..
