Unhappy Sprint HTC Touch Pro Not Charging

So last night I was taking a nap and set my WM alarm clock to wake me up. As I hate that alarm clock and have such a hard time turning it off, I just did a soft reset to shut the damn thing up. After doing so, I plugged it into my PC to let it charge for the rest of the night.

I woke up and the phone isn't charged. I tried unplugging/plugging it back in and my PC doesn't make the USB-device-connected sound it usually does. So I plug the TP into the AC adapter and it still doesn't charge. I tried a different PC. Nothing.

I've done a hard reset and nothing changed. I've tried taking the battery out, putting it back in. Nothing. I tried trying to run the phone on external power by taking the battery out and plugging it into the wall and the PC but the phone won't power on. It seems that it's something wrong with the phone and not the power source (wall, PC or the battery).

Any ideas? I'm assuming the TP still powers on while plugged into the wall without the battery. Please help! I've emailed HTC and Sprint but this is the only phone I have, no land line.

Re: Sprint HTC Touch Pro Not Charging

My friends phone had a problem where it would not syn to active sync but would charge. I tried everything, hard reset, taking the bat out, different cables, computers nothing worked. We brought it to sprint repair store and they said they cleaned the port out with a wire brush using a little bit of alcohol. I would make sure to take your bat out and have the phone off obviously while you are cleaning. He also said to make sure you take canned air to the port to make sure it's dry right after you are done brushing. Gives this a shot, similar issues hopefully that will take care of it. Good luck

Re: Sprint HTC Touch Pro Not Charging

Its been my experience that the actual computing hardware does not get direct current from the USB port, only the charging circuit does. The phone always gets its power from the battery. So with the battery out, you are interupting the circuit, hence the phone will not power up without a battery in it.

See if you can get your hands on a spare battery, a defective battery could cause this.

Re: Sprint HTC Touch Pro Not Charging

There are numerous threads in the general Touch Pro forum that discuss this very issue. Search on "battery", "charging", etc.
