A new device, and a new partnership with Sync Center?

Ok, the port on the bottom of my pro had problems that they could not fix at the Sprint Store and they swapped it out for a new phone. I assumed that Sync Center would restore my contacts and calendar using the old partnership, but it wants me to create a new partnership. How exactly do I sync this new device as if it were my original phone? I am running vista, so its using Sync Center, not the version that runs on XP (cant remember the name of it on XP right now).

Go ahead and create a new partnership. All of your contacts are stored on your pc from your old device. I am on XP and use ActiveSync and do this often.

Re: A new device, and a new partnership with Sync Center?

I actually sync with 2 computers (don't know if this is recommended or not, but its necessary). Work and my laptop at home. Each computer was named just that in the partnership, work and laptop. I synced my outlook email with work, but not with the laptop. Only contacts and calendar with the laptop. If I set up the new partnership like it was before, will everything transfer ok? On another note, I had a gmail email account set up as well as a roadrunner account. Those did not transfer over with the new partnership. Any ideas on that or do I just have to recreate those accounts on the device?

Just be sure to select what you want to synce with on each pc. I always have to set my email account up again, but I only sync to my work exchange.

mr8820, You said usually, so that means that at least once it did not. Did you use a backup program to reinstall, or just let it sync up.
