Wrong Incoming Text Time Stamp Help

I've searched all over, from Google to xda, ppc, smartphonejunkie, etc, but I have yet to find a solution that is to my liking. The regedit .cab file found on xda did not help me at all.

The problem I have is that my unlocked HTC Touch Pro (Bell) has incoming text timestamps dated 8 hours into the future. My time zone is Pacific Standard Time. For example, if I got an sms on 12/26/2008 @ 6:00pm, the time stamp will say 12/27/2008 @ 2:00am

The timestamps were fine when I had the stock Bell rom, unlocked at the time. But when I flashed my first rom (Juggalo's), I started getting the wrong text time stamps. I thought it was a rom specific problem, so I flashed to another rom (Juicy), and I still get the same thing. I also flashed to a 3rd rom (Ya 4 Juggs) and, yep you guessed it, wrong time stamp again. The 4th rom I tried was JD's and all these roms did not correct the text time stamp.

I then flashed to the Bell stock rom dump as a last resort, and it fixed the time stamp. However, the bloatware within the Bell rom is making my HTC TP quite slow.

I'm wondering if anyone can help me with this problem. The stock rom seems to be the only fix I have at the moment. Can the developers of the 4 roms I mentioned give me a hand?

Thanks in advance,
-MW

Re: Wrong Incoming Text Time Stamp Help

This is interesting. If your time zone is correct in Clock & Alarms in Settings then It could be on the Carriers end because the windows mobile phones do in fact read the timestamp information from the SMS message even though it can be optionally ignored. This may be a silly question but is your time correct? and also are you getting the correct time when you send?

Not sure if that will help. I did not read it but it looks like it might relate to you.

Re: Wrong Incoming Text Time Stamp Help

Thanks for the cross posting tip before. But I'm only using it as a last resort.

My sent messages have the correct time, but only the incoming ones have the wrong time. The time zone setting I have is the same as on my PC, which is GMT -8 Tijuana.

I find it odd how the stock Bell rom does not have the timing error, but if I have custom roms applied, that's when the times are off.

I've also noticed that the roms I've used are either have Telus or Sprint users in mind, and that the developers state that it should work with other cariers as well. Wonder is that has anything to do with it.

This is proving to be quite the head scratcher. I'm grateful for any imput. So no questions are silly. =p

Are there others having this problem or am I the only one? =/

Confuzzled,
-MW

Lol, I did indeed read that. I tried out the solution they suggested, but to no avail.

Re: Wrong Incoming Text Time Stamp Help

After some more experimenting with roms, I've decided to use the stock Bell rom as it resolves the timestamp issue.

The customized roms seem to mess up the incoming text timestamps, for what reason, I'm not quite sure.

Text messaging timestamp

Is there any way to change it so it is correct?

It's 7 hours off on mine, very annoying.

Is there any way to eliminate the time stamp all together. I love the custom rom i have, so i dont want to go back to the slow stock one.

Anybody have any fixes for this?

Re: Text messaging timestamp

Go to Start/Settings/System/Clock & Alarms, then change the Home time to be correct for your location. I'm in central standard time, so mine would be GMT-6 Central US. Then hit OK and you should be done.
