New Pro / Mogul replacement...Vid issues

Hi guys...I have had a 6800 for a couple years now. Actually had 4 of them.

1st was a free replacement for a defective 6700 then the screen went out.
2nd, the screen and keyboard went out
3rd, the keyboard went out in 2 wks
4th had no problems, but I called Sprint and said I was tired of "Moguling" and had no faith in the product...they said "We're sorry, would you like a Pro isntead?"

So...I have a new Touch Pro for free. I got to keep the Mogul too, but may sell it.

(Sorry...I've used "search" but never really got a straight answer)

Issue...the Touch Pro doesn't play video with TCPMP as well as the Mogul. I think it's b/c it has so much higher resolution...it has to stretch the vid to play the same. I've tried RAW, GDI, and Direct Draw. Oddly enough, Direct Draw seems to work best. I'm using Acala DVD-to-PPC shrinker as well as Plato DVD shrink:

Res: 320x240
Codec: .avi
Audio: 128 kbps
Video: 512 kbps
F.Rate: 23.97 fps
Benchmark: 128%

My issue is this: With the Pro...I'm getting a dropped frame "every once in a blue moon" where on the Mogul...it was flawless. Always.

Would Coreplayer solve the issue?
Would a different codec solve?
Would a different shrink software solve?

I'm anal when it comes to my Vid playback and the Mogul was truly perfect with my settings. I spent $30 on my shrinker and would like to keep the cost to a minimum...so I don't wanna go out and try a whole bunch of crap that doesn't work, LOL

Thanks!

E

I would honestly try tweaking with the buffer on TCPMP. also are you using the recomp3 version? I know someone was tweaking the version with a thread in this forum linking it to a youtube player you might want to try that.

free alternatives I know of.
S2P
Mortplayer
kinoma (theres a lite version thats free I believe)

but I honestly still use TCPMP and it works just fine but I increased a couple of the buffers a bit.

What buffer settings are you using? I tried:

Normal buffer size: 9600 KB
Preload at underrun: 80%
Preload for audio: 64 KB

Microdrive mode (checked)
Microdrive buffer size: 16000 KB (I tried 32000 KB, but messed stuff up)
Microdrive starts at: 1472 KB

I haven't installed tcpmp since I re flashed last night, just try adding a zero after each one and then play with it from there.
