Is Verizon 3G or 3.5G?

I'm hearing mixed things about Verizons network. I'm not welcoming a bash party, but I would like to know, what speed Verizon is at? I heard 3.5G, and I hear just 3G. What speed is 3G? 3.5G? 4G (since I hear Verizon is nearing that)?

I get 2.1MB download (as shown in my sig). Is this normal? fast? slow? meh?

Thanks!

Oh, and maybe perhaps what do other networks have? Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T...

I thought 3G was 1xEVDO and 3.5G is EVDO Rev. A

3G is for GSM carriers, EVDO is for CDMA carriers. 3G=EVDO

I wouldn't necessarily say that...GSM is plain 'ol 3G because that's how they classify their 3G network to their customers. EVDO is still a "3G" network because of the speed classification. EVDO is just what CDMA carriers call their 3G network.

"3G" was actually first launched by a CDMA carrier in I blieve Korea in 2002.

The first commerical launch of 3G in the US was by a CDMA carrier (Monet Mobile Networks), followed by Verizon with their 1xEVDO data network.

EDIT: Just saw that you had 3G=EVDO.

This is always what I've gone by. EVDO officially is 3G, but EVDO Rev. A has never been officially classified at 3.5G. Though technically you can still call it that.
