Device Name keeps changing
 

Every time I sync through Vista (bluetooth or usb) the name of my device changes to HTCXX, where the xx's are numbers. This is getting really annoying and messing with my ability to synchronize correctly. Anyone have any ideas as to why this keeps happening and how to fix it?

go to system settings, about, then device id tab and make sure you don't use a space or underscore.

Reflashing and hard resets cause the last two digits to be chosen randomly again.

I am having this problem, after getting a replacement Touch Pro. It keep changing the device name no matter what I do. I change the registry setting on both my vista computer and my device, but after reset and sync, it change my device name to something different, HTCxx. I am worried that my registrations might not work correctly. Does anyone run into this problem?

I am having real problems with this using SplashID, because Vista changes my device ID. It will not sync my database because my deviceID is different.
