HTC Touch Pro - Touching itself?

I've had my HTC Touch pro for about a week now, and I've been generally pleased with it. Until about 2 hours ago. Now, it's behaving as if someone/thing is continuously tapping the bottom left of the screen, as if it had a stuck key. I tried a soft reset, I've tried leaving the battery of for about 15 minutes, it still does it. It effectively renders the touch screen useless.

Has anyone seen anything like this before and have any ideas on troubleshooting / resolving it? I suspect a trip to my Verizon store is in my very near future, but I'd like to avoid that if at all possible. Thanks!

Best. Thread. Title. EVER.

When I think about you I touch myself"

Yeah, things tend to get pretty sticky in situations like this.

...

I'll stop now.

But have you tried doing a screen calibration to see what that does?

Re: HTC Touch Pro - Touching itself?

Well your first problem was buying the Verizon version (sucks balls) Try hard reseting the phone. Did you install a rom on the phone? Or is it the stock OS?

Re: HTC Touch Pro - Touching itself?

can't do screen alignment, screen is effectively in use all the time so can't get to alignment. It's the stock OS. And it will not, for the life of me, hard reset. tried it every way I can think of and/or read about in the forums. vol down + enter + soft reset. tried it while phone was on (just does a soft reset) and phone off (remove and reinsert battery, then key sequence). tried varying the pressure on the enter key (softer click, harder click). No dice.

Re: HTC Touch Pro - Touching itself?

I had this issue with the music tab of the tf3d - it just continually scrolled thru the songs like someone/thing was actually choosing it. I did a hard reset the first time (sorry i have sprint) and it happened again like 1 month later. Best buy said it was defective and replaced it.

No issues since.

Re: HTC Touch Pro - Touching itself?

Hard reset If you can get to Start--Setting--Systems then select clear storage. That is the easiest way to do a hard reset for me. I can never get that other hard reset to work I think I was told to turn the phone off before trying the hard reset by the vol down etc.
