Protect that clear camera window on battery cover from scratching

I noticed how the clear camera/led window is becoming scratched on both my Diamond and Touch Pro. I realize that they can always be polished or replaced, but will just get scratched again.

Having had Invisible Skin and similar, but did not like the tacky feel, I decided to cut strips of the clear screen protector, rounded the corners, and applied them to the covers. They laid down well and do not seem to affect photo quality. It's been a few days and they have stayed well. This way, I will just replace the screen protector every so often.

Simple idea, yes, but it's working well for me and I thought I'd share.

Thanks, I just got my Touch Pro. Been about 2 weeks now and the thought of scratching that camera lens has went through my mind numerous times. Simple but effective thx for sharing.

Re: Protect that clear camera window on battery cover from scratching

It has been found that the window is both quite scratch-resistant and does not contact the surface your phone is sitting on (it is slightly raised). In the end, scratching is not much of a concern.

small scratches on the cover doesn't come out much in the photos. And if you must take a perfect glamor shot with a camera phone..... you can always temporarily remove the cover to fully utilize the capabilities of that awsome 3.2 megapixel ultra sharp auto focus super bright flash camera phone.

Re: Protect that clear camera window on battery cover from scratching

I see many fine scratches on the cover dispite the curve people talk about. While they may not affect photogrphic quality, as they accumulate, they might. I prefer to keep the cover scratch-free, and since I have plenty of screen protectors, it is the ideal solution for me.

Re: Protect that clear camera window on battery cover from scratching

Since it's not actually a lens but more of just a "cover", and that every time you add over it (like the screen protector) it adds optical distortion, why not just remove it altogether?

it's only there as a dust cover and aesthetics. The odds of something actually jamming in there and scratching the ACTUAL lens is pretty slim using most carrying methods.

Re: Protect that clear camera window on battery cover from scratching

I don't really worry about it myself, I decided I don't like the hassle nor the looks of the screen protectors. If I get a huge scratch on my screen, I'll just get a replacement. Minor scratches and scuffs are no problem, my old titan was loaded with them and I never even noticed unless I specifically looked for them.

Scratched camera window? That's even easier, just run over to a Sprint store and ask for a new one.

Re: Protect that clear camera window on battery cover from scratching

I must say...I really don't like screen protectors all that much either but I have the mirrored screen protectors that cover my screen and the hard buttons on the bottom I got from ebay. My phone is now all chrome and black! I looks pretty sweet.
