Is there a Google Maps w/ Streetview AND G-Sensor working?

Sorry if this has been asked or posted already, (if so, mods please delete and/or close)

Is there a new version of Google Maps that has the Streetview AND also works with the G-Sensor for the TP?

Or is there a way to get the existing version to work with the G-Sensor?

That'd be awesome

Re: Is there a Google Maps w/ Streetview AND G-Sensor working?

Just out of curiousity, why would you want the g-sensor to work with a map? It might be cool to move the map around, but at the same time how fun would it be to have to keep it still while moving.

I think he wants it to be like the G1, when you are using street view and move around it looks with your movements.

Exactly!! Kinda sucks to have to pan streetview with ur fingers. Plus like you said, I'd like to do what the G1 can do in that aspect so we can say, we can do that too.

That's an internal compass in the G1 if I am not mistaken, not the accelorometer making street view orient itself.

Re: Is there a Google Maps w/ Streetview AND G-Sensor working?

I'm pretty sure the G1 just has an accelerometer just like the pro. In the video demonstration he has to 'sync' the accelerometer with his orientation so it would know what to do. So I'm fairly certain it could be done.

Re: Is there a Google Maps w/ Streetview AND G-Sensor working?

The accelerometer name is kind of a misnomer, it doesn't really measure acceleration of the device, it just detects forces acting on it (gravity) to determine orientation. Hold the phone still and it shows an "acceleration" of 9.8m/s. But the phone isn't accelerating when you hold it still.

Re: Is there a Google Maps w/ Streetview AND G-Sensor working?

G1 has a compass. Allows for absolute orientation. Neither GPS nor accelerometers can do this (GPS provides absolute position; not orientation. It can tell which direction you are MOVING, but not which direction you are facing.) The compass is absolutely necessary for streetview. Accelerometers also suffer from drift, which make them problematic for that kind of an application anyway.
