its a combo of both. its capacitive and also has buttons underneath. there is a detailed pic floating around, and several diagrams..im too lazy to search for it though

haha yeah i'm wondering how it works as well. It's a little nutty and sometimes it does things i don't want it to do. the phone overall is pissing me off now lol

Right and left are basically between the Home/Answer and Back/EndCall and the touch ring works best if you run your finger outside the ridged edge. Use your corners and you'll be ok in selecting the iconed portions. Oh and Up/Down is just outside the ridged circle also..

Here is a picture I took at a Best Buy Mobile store. Now, I'm not sure how accurate this is given that the phone in this picture is just a display model with the plastic broken off.

Thanks for sharing. I don't know if I should exchange mine (again) for the buttons or just deal with it as a Diamond that I have works very well in comparison and isn't as lose to the press.
