Add "Nickname" Field to Contacts?

I'd like to have a nickname associated with some of my contacts and if that's present have it show up in the persons name. Is this possible? Although not useful in the business world maybe, I thought this would be pretty useful in the personal side of things.

Yo Bf, how bout just putting the nick name before first or last name depending on how your contacts are showing...

Pocket Informant lets you access this field if I remember correctly.

Ya, I thought of that, but then it would just look stupid IMHO. Kinda annoying they don't have this field built in.

Does it have the field by default or allow you to add it? How does it work with syncing to Outlook?

When you are editing a contact on your phone, put the cursor in the Name field and press Enter. It should open a new box with Title, First, Middle, Last Nickname and Suffix. I use nickname A LOT to associate the real name with the username of people I meet on forums.

Sweet, Thanks! Now that I've done that a few remarks:

1) I don't like how it doesn't display the nickname when listing contacts.

2) I don't like how you can't enter a nickname in the to field of a text and have it automatically pick up the correct contact.

3) Not as important but wish you could display the person as their nickname.

Finally a question:

Does anyone know how to default Contacts to have display as:
Firstname Lastname instead of the default of Lastname, Firstname?

Under "File As", press on the name and a drop box appears, choose which one you want.

Sorry, I should clarify. I know I can do that, but what I meant was it defaults to Lastname, Firstname and I'd just like it to default to Firstname Lastname so I don't have to change it all the time as that's how I like my contacts sorted.

Gotta say really annoying I can't send an e-mail/text to a nickname. not really sure what the point of having the nickname field is if you can't refer to someone by it.
