How do I use WiFi and not connect via carrier?

There are times when I'd like to connect to a WiFi source and not use up any minutes on my data plan.

How do I do this? I can turn on my WiFi, but when I go to the internet, it is still using my data connection - not the WiFi.

All the help I can find simply tells me how to turn on the WiFi, but not how to turn off the data connect.

Can anyone provide assistance? Thanks,
Susan

If you go into the Communication Manager you can turn Data off. Start ----> Settings ----> Connections ----> Comm Manager
