Confused - why can't I send any email?

I have read the thread on the HTC Diamond about Seven, but am very confused. I do not understand why I can *receive* email messages from AOL and Gmail, but cannot *send* any messages. I keep getting a message that my settings may be incorrect, and I check them, but they are pre-set when I set up the account and say it is AOL or Gmail.

Can anyone provide some guidance as to why I cannot send email from either my AOL or Gmail account with my HTC Touch Pro?

there's an email fix on microsoft.com that fixes a problem with outbound emails... i had this problem and installed it, and it works fine now.

Can you provide any further information? Like what the program is called? Or what to search for on microsoft.com?

yeah, i'm sorry.. i forget what it was called. it was some sort of fix for outbound mail. i found it through google a few months ago and used it, and it worked.
