Video on TP

hi

I know this has been posted before ...but i havent gotten a definite answer from my search. What is the format for playing movies on the touch pro. I have a bunch of avi files. Should i convert them to mpeg4 and use WMP. I know the res on the screen is 640x480. I searched for about 1 hour and i keep reading different results. What is the best way. If I have a dvd and want to put on my tp is my question. Getting a littler testy here I did do the search and hate to ask this question. Or maybe it hasnt been answered straight forward.

Thanks in advance

Re: Video on TP

There isnt really a perfect answer for this question. My first choice is to use coreplayer and it looks awsome but when you use your video out cables you see a blue flicker. Second choice would be tcpmp but then the qulity of the video declines. Its watchable on the phone but barely with video out. Then you can convert them to wmp but who wants to hav to do those extra steps. thats what i got so far. good luck

Re: Video on TP

Then coreplayer for sure. It reads avi files very nice. its more than worth the $20. no need for reformatting

Re: Video on TP

Coreplayer does not convert the files, it just reads the avi's and plays them. DVD's on the other hand would take up too much room, they would have to be converted to a smaller compressed file. The program I use for this is DVD to Pocket PC.

Its not free, but it works good and the trial version will let you try it out to see if you like it.

I've never used it, but here's a free dvd converter/compressor.

Re: Video on TP

here's something interesting for you all to try with your coreplayer benchmarks... try converting the audio in your divx/xvid video to mono even at the same bitrate and rerun the CP benchmark.... explain the results on that!

I also have a Mac and visual hub. I haven't found any settings that will make the video smooth. I am using windows media player though. I've tried different formats (.wmv/.avi/.mp4) and different video and audio settings but I still get choppy playback
