connecting phone to PC effs up pc's wifi network connection

It doesn't matter if I'm in sync mode or USB mass storage mode on the phone, either way it starts to mess with my PC's network connection. It'll make my torrents run at a few Kb/s, and my browser run slow and my IM drop its connection.

wtf?

I've got my phone connected to the computer via USB, computer is connected to the internet over a wifi connection between a encore super-g pci adapter and a dlink router. I'm not running wmwifirouter on my phone, It is running a custom rom, that's the only thing I can think of that is different from when this didn't used to happen.

Actually that's not your router, windows does that. I don't know why but when it connects to the phone it re-initializes all your other network connections. It's been that way for my other PPC phones too. But haven't had this issue of slowing down my network connection.

If you are using your phone as a modem then you should make sure you go int settings>connections>usb to pc and check enable advanced network functionality.
This might help
