Disabling smart dialing

Ok I have searched and come up empty every time. It could just be me but I find smart dialing / the auto complete annoying. I would always disable it with no problem on my vogue. Now with the touch pro the menu option to turn it off is not there. I have tried different dialers and turning off the htc skin. I also searched the registry. Any ideas?
