Re: what is the difference

It is the .NET 3.5 framework which some apps utilize. The debugging messages for .net 3.5 (I assume you're referring to the cab I linked to in the essentials thread) enables more detailed error messages on the phone if you're helping to debug apps.

.NET 3.5 debugging messages installs alongside .net 3.5. Just install 3.5, you don't need to install the debugging messages unless you're specifically requested to to get an error message (and you will know because Windows Mobile will pop up telling you the error message will be revealed if you install the messages).

Re: what is the difference

6.1 compatibility problem?

I was having trouble not being able to run some of my old (WM2003) software on Windows Mobile 6.1 (HTC TP), but this same software with the same version (6.1 and the PPC 6700) seem to be doing fine. The troubled software never seemed to even start and went to an error which is WinCE501b Exception (HTC TP).
'We are sorry...' from which you can click to an error report. That error report specifies the 'WinCE50lbException'

Thanks to an old app and MS Active Sync put on CF 1. ... I uninstalled Compact Framework 1, then my applications start correctly (using .Net Framework 2.0 provided by default by WM 6.1). So, it seems that there is problem from the compatibility between WM Pro 6.1 and CF1.0 with at least the HTC TP...

CF2.0 and 3.5 seem OK together (also changed CF 3.5 as default).
