Unhappy Earpiece crackles, hardware or software issue?

I just got the touch pro last week and overall it seems to be a great phone, except for the poor audio quality on the earpiece.

I've tried the audiopara.csv tweak to see if it would work but it didnt.
I've also removed the plastic screen cover that came on the phone

It almost sounds like the earpiece speaker is blown, it crackles like one.

Is there anything else i could try myself? or should i just get this one replaced?

Thanks!

Re: Earpiece crackles, hardware or software issue?

Some people have reported that a full hard reset took care of most issues out of the box like this. Have you done that yet?

Re: Earpiece crackles, hardware or software issue?

I am surprised no one has yet given you the search or die comments. ;O) In Baffels sticky at http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=42730 he says that doing a hard reset on the phone may remove this problem.

I have tried it on my Sprint version to no avail. I use this mostly with Bluetooth or in the car with the radio where their is no problem so I doubt it is the software. I have contemplated taking mine back but it works so much better than my Mogul in many other ways I am thinking I might live with it.

I had the same issue with my phone. It had the muffled speaker and i just went to the local sprint store and replaced it for a brand new one since i had 30 days to return it. Once i got my new phone i did the audiopara fix and its all good from there. It now has a perfect earpiece/speaker. If you still have 30 days since you bought the phone i would suggest you call ur local store and go get it replaced. Good luck!
