Question Optical mouse... hmmm

So i heard that the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 had a touch panel navigation on the bottom of the phone. I also heard that the phone utilizes that touch area for a optical mouse on-screen. Am i right or wrong so far?

So my question to the community of PPCGeeks would be... Why havn't we developed or ripped for that matter a optical mouse for our Pro's?

Re: Optical mouse... hmmm

The Touch Pro will do multitouch tracking in the bottom section of the phone (the hard keys)... but (IIRC) multitouch is patented by Apple and thus illegal for HTC to implement, and how *exactly* would you end up using it on the TP? Not that having a cursor wouldn't be nice but... it's a touchscreen phone to begin with and the stylus does give you better precision anyways, IMHO.

Re: Optical mouse... hmmm

The Samsung Omnia and Samsung i770 (Saga) have an optical mouse as well. I LOVE using either of those phones for that reason. I rarely touch the screen when using the Omnia. Perhaps someone could start tearing down the i770/Omnia cabs and try to find a way to port that functionality over?

And the pointer definitely gives you better precision. Much easier to use.
