Slick on the outside... poo on the inside
I think I lot of folks are blown away by the slick interface. But if you are serious about your media, then this might not be for you. I own Kinoma, and have installed it and then removed it a few times. I think I do this to remind myself why I don't like it. If I could install it and it not interfere with other applications and associations, I'd leave it on. I really like to look and feel of the interface. But you have to make sacrifices to use it, and those just aren't worth it to me right now.
While I can only speak for version 5.0.70, but here are some of my problems with it. - Choppy playback of some video types. - Robs file associations - Can't watch specific folders. (ie, scans my DVDProviler Portable folder, 1000+ thumbnails!) - Unsupported Audio Codec when playing back videos shot with my Touch Pro - Touchy auto-rotation (hair trigger!) - No A2DP/AVRCP (?) Over all it just has very limited control left to the end user. It needs these options tabs added: Audio/Video Codecs Watched/Scanned Folders Auto-Rotation Sensitivity File Associations I keep hoping for an update to come along that will turn this into the 'killer ap' I've been hoping for, but it's not there yet. I am hopeful that the folks over at Kinoma will conquer these issues soon. -D |

Also the album art is terrible, almost not worth having its so bad quality, is this just that way in the free version. Its easy enough to change the file associations so that not that big of a deal but they HAVE to fix the annoying auto rotation, you sneeze and it flips back and forth 3 times. The other things that not kinomos fault but rather orb's is that it streams my video very poorly to my xbox, tversity does a much better job of this so I have to have two servers running all the time... |
