Activesync & Sygate Pro

I had a fix for this with my Treo 700wx, I know it wasn't a regedit but I can't remember what exactly I had to do. Due to the requirements of Sygate for MTU and such my Activesync connects but will not start syncing unless I kill the firewall. I'm wondering if changing the listed keys below in my registry will have any negative effects? Normally I would have no doubt about adding a key or value but since these already exist in the TP registry I'm afraid that making the changes will have adverse effects. I did a search in this forum but didn't see anything that addressed the problem.

Registry Sub Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\USB\FunctionDrivers\RND IS]
Name of the Value to add: MTU Type : DWORD Data: 1514 (Value is Decimal)

Registry Sub Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\USB\FunctionDrivers\RND IS]
Name of the Value to add: MaxOutTransfer Type: DWORD Data: 1642 (Value is Decimal)
