fyi skywing replied on his fix for the 6800 mr1 update thread... he obviously thinks it's possible to get his hack to work on the xv6850 stock rom:

Other than that, as soon as they get the unlocker working for the 6850 I'm pretty sure any custom ROM will allow gps.. just as with the 6800.
