typing speeds vs screen delay

has anyone else noticed that when you go type a text message the screen is very delayed vs your input speed? it is very annoying. for 288 megs of ram i would have thought the phone would have more pep. i used my wife's touch yesterday and that felt quicker executing applications.

Re: typing speeds vs screen delay

What a dead horse this is...

If you search about typing and delay, you will find many posts suggesting to turn off Word Correction and T9... Yes there might still be some delay compared to a on screen KB, so there must be some kind of driver/hardware lag... However if you turn the above items off, it SHOULD greatly reduce lag...

Also, try a hard reset on the phone if you have not already done so...

Re: typing speeds vs screen delay

Mine lags at first, but after a few seconds it catches up and is fine. I may need to hard reset though, because after a few days without a reset, my phone starts popping up the dialer whenever I change between landscape and portrait. Quite annoying.

Not really a dead horse IMO. I've been part of that dialog for a while and have tried everything (T9 as well as word correction is disabled everywhere, as well as in the keyboard itself) and input is still painfully slow. Honestly, this is the only thing about the phone which annoys me since I do so many texts a day. It really, really, really lags sometimes.

I honestly will wait a good 20 seconds for the input to catch up if I've composed a nice long two-parter text.

Re: typing speeds vs screen delay

Turning off auto-correction seems to have helped a bit for me. Or it might be that "placebo" thing again...

Re: typing speeds vs screen delay

When I use the hard keyboard I can usually get 2-3 words ahead of what is showing. I wish it could keep up.

Re: typing speeds vs screen delay

another thing people have found is using higher PP roms has limited the lag. seems like 48 meg is the current sweet spot.

Wierd... I had lag, until I turned T9 and word correction/completion. I no longer have KB lag...

Re: typing speeds vs screen delay

How do you disable T9 anyway? Can't seem to find a menu for it.
