Re: Proximiter Sensor question
Well this stinks...I have never been able to get my phone to turn off the screen when I place a call. I have Advanced Configuration and adjusted to the settings mentioned by lexluthor above. It was never "disabled". Still no joy. I'm also wondering about the auto light-adjusting. How does this work? Can you literally put your hand over the sensor to cover it and the screen gets brighter? IF so I haven't seen that on mine. I have the setting to "auto adjust backlight" (always have since I got the phone).

I find it annoying that my phone turns off during calls, so I disabled that. I use automated systems, like my voicemail so much that it started to get aggrevating. I am used to turning off my phone if I don't need to see the screen. Plus, it turns off after 30 seconds or whatever anyways. On a sidenote, why doesn't the number pad pop up when I call voicemail? It always did this on my Touch, and it's highly annoying that I have to keep switching over... |

Re: Proximiter Sensor question
What's controlling the on/off status of the screen when you are on a call are these settings on the 'Advanced' tab in Settings-System-Power.
Turn off backlight if device is not used for: {select time] Turn off device if not used for: {select time} Apparently, talking on the phone is not 'using the device'. The TP touching your ear or cheek does seem to be 'using the device'. These settings control things regardless of 'Auto adjust backlight'. The phone will turn back on when the call is ended. I imagine tweaks could override those settings. (I'm still trying to make sense of this device - I now hold the TP away from my ear when talking because I kept opening notes or contacts or ending the call) |
