Mail Key v. "TXT" key- they do the same thing?

I searched through here but couldn't find anyone talking about this:

On my keyboard, both the "TXT" button and the button with the picture of the envelope on it do the same thing. That is, when I slide out my keyboard and am on the home screen, if I press either of those two buttons, the phone opens up my text message inbox. I would think that the mail button should open the e-mail screen?

I just noticed this yesterday, and am not sure if it has always been that way or if I did something to change the function of the mail key?

Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks in advance for any input.

Joe

When you're in the messaging menu, go to tools->options and check "display account picker when opening messaging". What will happen now is that the envelope takes you to the account picker while TXT takes you to the text messaging screen. I'm not sure if there's any way to get the envelope to bring up mail.

Have you guys come across anyway to change one of those keys? I'd like to modify the envelope key to open the start menu. The 6800 had a dedicated start menu button on the keyboard which I used often but it has been lost on the touch pro.

Thanks,
Andrew

Well, AE button plus is what you need. But you need No2chem's rom so you have the ability to map the buttons.

Re: Mail Key v. "TXT" key- they do the same thing?

I searched for no2chem ROM in this forum but got about a million different ROM links. Can you guys point me to the one you have and that works with AE Button plus?

Thanks,
Andrew
