Hey I'm right there with ya. I use the stock contact overlay too. I don't call very many people and the ones I do I have on speed dial and the peoples tab.

I tried it beginning of December, 2008 - so like a week ago. Does not fully integrate with TF3D and the WinMo SMS app - so if you like adding an additional contact management app to your device go right ahead, but this won't replace anything.
