Re: Another TV-out diy guide simple

I had this figured out a while ago but was trying to think of a way it could be optional rather than permanent. I thought maybe if there was such a thing as a ExtUSB male-to-ExtUSB female adaptor (an extender perhaps?) then you could break the 4 pin on that but retain full use of your multi-adaptor.

I think evilpeople's idea is the best yet!

Re: Another TV-out diy guide simple

Would this method work with the old Mogul 3.5 head-set adapter? I want to save the new one and I have a lot of old Mogul parts.

Did you already have it output to your TV screen?

I'm surprised this works - because with the other method, if I plugged in the cable unconnected I got a notice asking about PAL vs. NTSC. I assumed the pin clicking in place caused the tv out signal to come up. Must the current run through the blue cable in order to provide headset sense?

If you can confirm that cutting the blue cable works - I may try to do this instead. It sounds like a quick and reversible fix.

I can confirm that this works. Its an affordable method for video output. I just pryed open the audio output connector that came in the box and cut the blue cable. I am planning to make a switch also. All you need for this mod are tools and a 4 prong 3.5mm video cables. Good luck. Thanks Bayeb.

Yes, I played some YouTube on my TV with lights & sound

To find the correct cable, I traced the signal from pin 4 to the blue wire, then to the ground on both audio jacks. So, if the blue wire is taken to ground, the TP will assume it's a headset adapter. If not, it assumes it's a video adapter.

This ones pretty cheap. Maybe Radioshack might have them as well.

Thanks, however, I want to lean towards radioshack if possible. I can get to one in 5 minutes. But I can't seem to find any on their website....

yeah if you plug anything in to it regular headphone, 2.5 with mic, 3.5 with mic. its going to reconize it as video cable.

make sure your pinout is right on your video out cable.
