Re: Opera Mini 4.2 out
You can install Java on your TP.. After you install it, open it up and there is an option for install.. Select it and it gives you the option for browser... Select this and it opens PIE.. Then go to the opera mini site..
If you need help on downloading the Java, look in this link.. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...highlight=java Go to this site for the Java files... http://www.powerpda.info/?category=w...d_mod__vga_mod Opera Mini is, as the name implies, a miniaturized version of the full Opera Mobile browser... Opera Mobile runs most of the browsing functions on the phone while Opera Mini runs most of the browsing functions off of a server that Opera operates.. Opera Mini is useful for small RAM phones like the Mogul.. Opera Mobile is the full version.. |

Re: Opera Mini 4.2 out
OK, I'm guessing I have the wrong version of something. When I run opera mini with Java Jbed VGA it displays block instead of text when zoomed out, is not full screen, and it does not scroll until pen up (pen taken from the screen). Do I have a low-memory version of operamini 4.2? 4.1 did not have these drawbacks on my Mogul.

Re: Opera Mini 4.2 out
Quote:
Opera Mini is completely different, and is akin to Quake 1's network code. The server does the magic, and the client dumbly follows it's instructions. When you go to a page in Opera Mini, you send a request to a server owned by Opera, which then goes out and gets the page. The server then formats it for the phone, cutting out things the phone won't like, resizing images to consume less bandwidth, compressing it all, etc. and then sends the revised page to the phone, where Opera Mini renders it. When you change the page orientation, text size, etc. the server has to re-process the page for the new screen size, thus there is no dynamic text manipulation as in Opera Mobile. The end result is that Opera Mini has far faster loading times because it's really not loading the entire page, per se. What you gain in speed you lose in flexibility. It's your choice as to what is a valuable trade-off for you. |
